What kind of maintenance does a Ford EcoBoost engine need that's different from other engines?

Ford's EcoBoost engines use turbocharging, which means they run hotter and place more stress on components like the cam phasers and timing chain than a naturally aspirated engine does. Staying on top of oil changes matters more here, since oil quality directly affects turbo longevity. Our trustworthy technicians at Boeser Automotive have specific experience with EcoBoost engines and know what to check. We're open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, so call (952) 882-0202 and we'll find a time that works.

Why does my Ford Focus or Fiesta feel like it's shuddering or hesitating when I accelerate?

This is a known characteristic of Ford's PowerShift dual-clutch transmission, used in certain Focus and Fiesta model years, and it often points to clutch wear or a need for a software update rather than a major mechanical failure. Our trustworthy technicians at Boeser Automotive are familiar with this transmission's quirks and can tell you whether you're looking at a simple fix or something more involved. Call (952) 882-0202 and we'll get you a straight answer.

Why won't my Ford's 4x4 engage properly?

This usually points to a worn transfer case actuator, a low fluid level, or an electrical connection issue rather than anything catastrophic, and it's a common concern on Ford trucks and SUVs. We can test the actuator, fluid, and wiring to find exactly where the system is failing. Our hours are Mon-Fri: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM | Sat-Sun: Closed, so call (952) 882-0202 and we'll get your 4x4 working the way it should.

This 4th valve in the serial valves. Shows very excessive wear. Hydraulic pressure is almost nonexistent inside the transmission. This is usually the case when somebody drives the vehicle until it doesn’t move anymore.

Looking at this 3rd valve in a series of valves. We find that the wear is starting to get a little more excessive. We are starting to experience a larger pressure loss in many aspects of the transmission.

The second valve illustrates slight wear on the pressure regulator valve causing low line pressure. At this stage of the game, you’re starting to feel a shudder when applying.
